Isn't this exciting? You don't know the half of it. Going40 is practically giddy because it (that's me) scored a major coup, getting PROF K HERSELF TO BE THE JUDGE. Yes, it's true. You have now all been judged as meticulously and harshly as my classmates and I are every Tuesday and Thursday. Oh, also? She now knows about this blog. And while I suppose that should scare the crap out of me (and some of you), she terrifies me anyway, so I'll just keep on keepin' on.
Prof K used three criteria in making her picks: "my level of entertainment, the perfection of the form, and their relevance to your blog."
1st prize: Ms. P
There once was a man from Montana
Who blogged from his Uptown cabana.
His Anthro’s a chore
Not to mention, a bore
So he’s knitting his mom a ruana.
2nd prize: Deb
I’m kind of an over-achiever
(I never watched “Leave It to Beaver.”)
I “should” go to bed
But I’ve filled up my head
These lim’ricks, they give me a fever.
3rd prize: Eric M
Setting sail into waters unknown
Our hero was feeling alone.
He broke through the fog
By starting a blog,
“Going 40 in a 20 Zone.”
Honorable mention: Deb
ya TA da da TA da da spoon,
ta YA da da YA da da moon.
ya TA da da kiss
ta YA da da bliss.
ta YA da da TA da da loon.
Regarding the honorable mention, Prof K indicates that it is her personal favorite and adds, "To the writer of this one, I highly recommend consulting http://www.rathergood.com/moon_song/ as eerily relevant (hmmm . . . then again, perhaps the limerick is plagiarized?)"
Thank you all for your excellent efforts, good spirits, and continued support. Special thanks to Prof K for taking time out of her real life to humor those of us without one.

Hooray for everyone who entered! Ms. P, you were the deserving winner!
Thanks, Scott, for letting us join in the fun!
More contests! More CONTESTS!! MORE CONTESTS!!!
(Oh, my gosh! It's exclamation points gone wild! I must go to bed.)
Wow. I'm blown away by the prestige of the judge, and by the speed of her decision. I guess all that practice reading papers pays off when you're asked to adjudicate a limerick contest.
I agree ms. p won, both for her first place entry, and also for her total body of work. Is there an Irving Thalberg award for limericks?
I actually think eric m came in second, with several good entries, and another strong body of work.
This was such a great contest. I have heigtened limerick consciousness as a result, and an ongoing cheap rhyme compulsion that could become problematic if I don't direct my focus elsewhere.
I'm sorry that Prof K has to consider the question of plagiarism. I suppose that's part of her job. But don't you think it's pretty darn interesting that she refers to the rathergood.com/moon_song? Isn't she revealing some interesting things about how she spends her time on the Internet?
I'm just saying. . .
