What a cold day to trek across campus to begin another round of learnin'. Semester zwei dawned well below zero, and I seemed to be the only sensibly-dressed one traipsing across Old Main lawn. Do college students not feel cold?
The eight of us who have moved on to German II all sat in our same seats, and with ten missing from last semester, if felt as though our compatriots had been plucked from their spots and sent to someplace bad [notice I didn't say where; we're sensitive about such things in German class]. And is it an auspicious start to the semester that today marks the 75th anniversary of Hitler becoming chancellor of Germany? I felt a bit like I should move down the hall and find a Hebrew class.

"Mr. Pipe",
If you read our SV bios you'll know that I'm a German translator by profession, so if you ever need any help or want a little conversation practice auf Deutsch, don't hesitate to call on me! It's the least I could do after enjoying your pertinent remarks at Monday's rehearsal.
