Dear Scott:
We are pleased to inform you that your proposed Summer collaborative research project, "Everyone's a Critic: An Examination of the Blogosphere's Influence on Arts Criticism," was selected for this year’s seminar and grants. The process has been very competitive, and the selection committee found that it had to pass over many proposals that were more than deserving of funding. Your proposed project was among those that clearly stood out as original, collaborative, and inventive.
The committee--comprised of seven faculty members from a variety of disciplines representing all four divisions--discussed every proposal in great detail. Its lengthy deliberations took into consideration the obvious merits of each project, such as its content, scope, purpose, and level of collaboration, as well as slight but significant distinctions of clarity of purpose and potential for feasible outcomes.
Please accept our congratulations, and also this invitation to the summer collaborative research program. We would like to be informed of your acceptance (via email) as soon as possible, but no later than April 15, so that students on the wait list can be given a decision expeditiously.
After all spots are filled, we will schedule an orientational meeting. There, you will learn of the summer format and schedule, as well as housing and course credit options (if you wish to take advantage of them).
You are also encouraged to begin (continue) your research and preparations as you have time, so that come summer you will hit the ground running!
Sincerely,
Directors of Collaborative Research
