An American Girl in Paris No More

It seems like perhaps it's time to retake control of my blog. Thanks to all guest posters, rogue and otherwise, as well as the continued faithfulness of the commenters. I'm plugging away at end of the semester shenanigans. Two of four papers are in the bag, and I have Monday and Tuesday mapped out to accomplish all I need to. The possibility of a decent GPA is within reach.

Almost lost in the verbage of the last few days are these words from Stephanie in France:

"I was just about to send an e-mail to a couple of friends asking for opinions on potential titles for the hypothetical blog I've been casually considering maybe."

First, all those in favor of Stephanie joining in the fun and writing a blog, say Aye.

Aye, AYE, aye, oui!, Aye, AYE, AYE.

All opposed, say Non.

[Silence]

I'm glad that's settled. Since I have not received one of the emails sent to friends about potential blog titles, I suggest we help Stephanie out. What is the perfect blog title for the urbane mademoiselle, schlepping back to life in America after years of socialized medicine, transit strikes, and eclairs? Write your suggestions in the comments section. Stephanie is under no obligations, of course, but she can only benefit from our efforts. We made her what she is, whether she knows it or not.

The title could be within that sentence somewhere.

Casually Maybe

Hypothetically Considered

Potentially Considered

Casually Titled

or more along the lines of

Pretty Busy Just Saving the World

or

Gobsmacked By "Liberty" ?

OK, I'm just getting warmed up. I could do this for hours. It would all be crap, but I could go on and on. Ask anyone.

Stand down, Debbie.

I like the idea of a riff upon this formula:

Goodbye, France. Hello, USA.

But by "riff" I mean something like

Au revoir, frites. Hello, skeet.
Ciao, cine. Hiya, buffet.
A bientot, tarte tatin. Hello, apple pie.
Au revoir, metro. Hello, auto.

None of these are perfect, but maybe this will spark something for you?

I like Eric's idea.

Au revoir, la Cagnotte. Hello, Kitty.

There are many good reasons for me NOT to start a blog. Using Eric M's "riffing" concept to express the most important one: "Au revoir productivity, Hello Blog."

Thank you for your words of support and your fabulous title suggestions. I confess that my personal favorite was "Gobsmacked by 'Liberty'?", but as Scott has taught us, everyone here at Going 40 is a winner.

Of course, if I WERE to have a blog, there would be no such mollycoddling. If *I* had a blog, I would ALWAYS be the winner, and the winning title would be. . . http://nativeobservation.blogspot.com/.
