My former boss had tickets to attend the inauguration, but she threw them away when Warren was picked for the invocation. I still would have gone, but I would have made farty noises all during his prayer. Just my classy form of protest...
As you may have heard, I've completed my service to the Vow of Bitterness.However.I think Rick Warren's history of hatespeech is so pervasive, and his language was so explicit, that he hasn't come anywhere near to earning forgiveness. I agree with Eric, but I'm going to spin it a little. I think in his speech he forgave himself, in a vague sideways manner.He owes the world a much bigger conversation. HIs apology and amends will need to be as strong and clearly worded as he made his earlier hatespeech, or it doesn't count for much.
